Summer Has Arrived

Good morning, everybody! With it getting warmer and greener outside, there’s a lot to look forward to. Please enjoy the poem today. It’s a little different from others I’ve written, like I said before. Very upbeat!

Summer Has Arrived

Summer has arrived!

With its warmth and its charm,

Just like the taste of a good chicken parm!

~

Summer has arrived

with its light breezes and sunny days.

You don’t have to care what anyone says.

~

Summer has arrived,

the emails read,

telling a story of workplace socials

and retirement parties.

~

Summer has arrived.

It’s time to come and dance!

Let’s just hope we have the chance.

Maybe One Day

Good afternoon, friends. I’m always dreaming of the sun. I’m often dreaming of love and the future and what might be. Join me for a moment. Enjoy the poem today. I think you’ll like it. Little Love Story

Is that what you want?

A love story?

You want to find yourself on a pier, set against the waves, awash under the light of the moon?

You want to lose yourself in those storied, starry eyes reflecting all your stories back at you?

Maybe one day.

Maybe one day you’ll sit there on the porch,

rocking back and forth

while the kids play inside

and the afternoon sun rolls over your tired old skin.

One day,

maybe,

it’ll all make sense

and you’ll wonder why

you ever worried at all.

One day

you’ll find your little love story.

Into The Jungle

I dream of having adventures in faraway lands with faraway circumstances. Perhaps I’ll leave, taking only my stetson and the clothes on my back. I’ll go and leave and finally be me. I suppose we’ll see. Enjoy the poem, friends.

Friend by the Falls

I see there in the distance

a waterfall

and the road that winds,

leading up to there

through the trees.

I can hear the crashing.

The water hitting the rocks.

Past the point of no return.

Hot sun above

and sounds of the jungle.

How can you feel?

How do you feel?

I only feel that pounding

of that water on the rocks,

resonating through my core

It’s sundown now.

A jaguar stands at attention.

I ask the cat a question as it watches:

“Hello, friend. Who is that reflected in your eyes?”

“I don’t recognize him,”

I whisper so sweetly so that only the ears of a predator might hear me.

The jaguar stares on,

looking as if to speak,

but it turns away.

There will be no answers today, friend;

you must find you yourself now.

“Goodbye, friend,” my words saunter off into the darkness.

Still Cold Amidst The Fires

Have you ever felt that bone-chilling cold? That cold that not only chills your body but your mind, your heart, and even your soul? Light a fire just to keep warm. You’ll just end up burning the house down. The firefighters picking through the burnt and smoldering wreckage of what was once a home only to find you there, sitting on an ashen sofa, turned from flesh and bone to ice. So cold to the touch it spreads.

Frostbite

So cold

Freezing, even

I can put on a blanket but…

It won’t help

This frigid mood that overtakes

Turns to ice even the largest lakes

Can’t feel my fingers

Can’t feel my toes

Only the stinging, piercing cold that knows

I hold this in

And freeze within

Look behind my eyes and see the snow.

Do You Kiss First?

How much for a kiss? How much do you love me, love? I have so much to do and yet? I do not do it. I am tired. I am not so sad but I am tired. It is a Tuesday through and through. Maybe the worst day of the week. Somehow, I do not find myself having a bad day. Just a boring day. Surely, you understand. “No I do not and don’t call me Shirley.”

California Vineyard

Creases trace lips

like cracks

In an ancient oaken barrel

Aging that smile

Like a fine wine

I never quite get tired

To see you so inspired

That glitter in your eyes

And little joking sighs

Hard enough to be apart

But always want to be a part

Of you and we

And this and us

Red lips

Sweet wine

Drink again

And find the time
